Cool Math Blast-off : Getting Ready for a New Year
Tired of being held back by students who don’t work hard at improving their math skills like you do? Then make this the summer you catapult your math ability to an all-new level!
Imagine having a personal “math coach” who can prepare you to enter the next grade feeling successful, confident and ready. Now you can: with “Cool Math Blast -off,” a one-week workshop that gives students the opportunity to reinforce, practice, and enrich their math skills.
Each day will have a chosen theme; topics ranging from pre-algebra, algebra 1, algebra 2, geometry, PSAT/SAT and real world projects. Students will be using technology in a fun and engaging way to not only enhance skills, but to have fun!
Designed to bolster each student’s confidence in and enjoyment of math, this workshop targets areas assessed using Connecticut’s Core Curriculum, including problem solving, algebraic thinking, and fractions.
With class sizes of just 3-5, each student will receive individual attention as they explore word problems, engage in hands-on math activities, and hone their math skills.
Instructor: Nicole Silenok, Certified Honors Geometry and STEM Mathematics teacher at the University High School of Science and Engineering (Top magnet school in America in 2012-2013).
